Itinerary

Day 0

Arrive to El Chaltén. Meet the Guide.

Day 1

Transfer to Puente Rio Electrico. From there we start our hike towards Piedra del Fraile. We follow Rio Electrico valley, depending on group’s fitness we may go either to Laguna Marconi just in front of Marconi Glacier passing or to Pollone valley where North Fitz Roy Glacier hides.

Day 2

Today we get into Rio Blanco valley all the way to Campamento Poincenot (Fitz Roy base camp). During the trek we pass in front of amazing hanging glacier: Piedras Blancas, which comes right from Fitz Roy’s foot. Laguna de los Tres (Fitz Roy look-out) is our final destination before reaching camp where a well-deserved dinner is waiting for us. Check in tents.

Day 3

Cerro Torre base camp is our final destination today. We hike along Madre e Hija (mother and daughter) lakes. After a couple of hours wedrop into Cerro Torre valley. One more hour and we reach Laguna Torre where Glacier Grande falls. We head back to our camp.

Day 4

Amazing trek to Laguna Toro! We cross Fitz Roy Rive using the Tyrolean crossing and we head to Paso de las Agachonas, a pass between Loma del Pliegue Tumbado and Cerro Solo. From up there, views of Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, Cerro Huemul, and the Wind Pass are just indescribable. We hike down to the other side of the pass towards Rio Tunnel and then to our camp Laguna Toro

Day 5

This trek brings all the terrains together: grass, scree and glacier. This is the strawberry of the desert. For some people the best hike. Impressive views of the continental Southern Ice Cap, third largest ice mass of fresh water in the world. There would be a Tyrolean crossing or wading a river according to conditions.

Day 6

After a nice breakfast and packing our stuff. We hike along Rio Tunnel and over Loma del Pliegue Tumbado. A very nice hike out to El Chaltén. Only 6 hours with 500-meter elevation gain. Views of Lago Viedma, Fitz Roy range and Cerro Torre range. We will see the small town up from above. We check in and get ready for a nice Gaucho Style Barbecue.
