Cerro Madsen Ascent

We start hiking early in the morning, sometimes in the dark. We can either take a transfer to El Pilar or start hiking from El Chaltén. We take Fitz Roy head-trail up to Poincenot Camp, then after crossing Río Blanco, we start going up to Laguna de los Tres (Fitz Roy look-out). In our right lays Cerro Madsen. The amount of snow we’ll encounter will depend on the time of the year and mountain conditions. Crampons, helmet and harness will become very handy, if needed. Eventually we’ll use our hand to pass over a third class terrain, the guide will assist us with a rope if necessary. We’ll be delighted to admire one of the best views of Fitz Roy Range ever! We go down the same way we came up. Approximately 1100-meter elevation gain from El Pilar and 1100 meter from El Chaltén.

We can add a second day to make this ascent less demanding. Please, ask about this option if you are interested.
