Itinerary

Day 0

Welcome by the mountain guide who will join you on the expedition. Equipment check and a brief informational talk about the region’s characteristics and the itinerary for the upcoming days.

Day 1

We meet with the guide at 8am at the reception hall of the hotel/hostel, and we start walking towards the trail which gets to Fitz Roy. Once on the trail, we get into a beech forest, where if we are lucky, we can see a magellanic woodpecker. We can stop in the Río de las Vueltas lookout. After one hour and a half of trekking, we get to the lovely Laguna Capri, from where we will be able to see the immensity of Fitz Roy and its range.
One hour more of trekking, and we get to Poincenot Campsite. (Other option is going through El Pilar trail, where we will not see Laguna Capri, but will have views of Glacier Piedras Blancas).
Once we arrive at the camp, we unpack, set the tent and have some lunch.
One demanding hour left to Laguna de los Tres. Up there we will deal face to face with Mt. Fitz Roy (if weather is on our side).
We return to the camp. Have dinner.

Estimated hiking time: between 7 and 8hs.

Day 2

We get up early in the morning, have breakfast, break down camp, and we start to walk to take the trail which goes along Laguna Madre and Hija.
After 3 hours of trek, we get to Campamento de Prestadores “La Humedad”, we unpack our backpacks and have lunch.
In the afternoon, we go up to Laguna Torre, a tranquil spot from where we can see the glacier and Cerro Torre with its famous mushroom of ice/snow on the top.
One hour more to Maestri lookout. We return to camp. Have dinner.

Estimated hiking time: between 6 and 7 hs.

Day 3
We wake up, have breakfast, and we pack all of our backpacks to start our hike back to El Chalten, which takes around 3 hours.
